Webinar: Training on Improving Traffic Safety Culture (11 and 18 November 2026)

As part of the European TRUST project (Growing Traffic Safety Culture: A Systematic Transition towards Shared Responsibility for Safe and Sustainable Mobility in the EU), a free online training course will be held on 11 and 18 November 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00 CET, targeting professionals working with European municipalities and regional authorities.

The training aims to strengthen understanding of traffic safety culture and help public authorities integrate road safety into their activities, decision-making processes, and wider sustainability objectives. Building on the principles of Vision Zero and the Safe System approach, the course will explore key road safety fundamentals, opportunities to improve traffic safety at the local level, and the links between road safety, UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Stockholm and Marrakech Declarations.

The two-part programme will combine expert-led sessions with reflective group discussions. The first session will focus on traffic safety fundamentals, the synergies between Vision Zero-Safe System approach and a sustainable society, and practical actions that authorities can take in their different roles, including road management, urban planning, maintenance, procurement, and influencing road-user behaviour. The second session will examine how these principles can be applied in national and local contexts, encouraging participants to identify organisational strengths, areas for improvement, and priority actions for their municipalities or regions.

The training is intended for political leaders and managers, employees whose work directly or indirectly influences traffic safety, and other professionals collaborating with local and regional authorities. It will be delivered online in English, and participants should have a moderate level of English proficiency. Participation is free of charge.

The course will be led by Hanna Wennberg, a Swedish expert in traffic safety and sustainability from Lund University and Trivector Mobility, who contributes to the TRUST project on sustainability integration approaches.

Registration is open until 5 November 2026. Interested participants can register through this link.
